At a very busy regatta yesterday (June7th) in South West London, Lea Junior crews powered their way through to win a total of three boat classes – Girls J15 coxed Quad Sculls, Girls J15 Double Sculls and Boys J15 Single Sculls. There were 16 crews in each boat class and, with doubling up, some young Lea athletes had to row 1000m eight times in one day to get their silverware.
Walton & Weybridge Regatta, which took place this year on Saturday 7th June, is a hugely popular event with the London’s rowing community, and this year, with hundreds of entries, had side by side racing every three minutes running from eight in the morning until seven in the evening. The Lea entered nine crews in five boat classes, made all five finals and won three.
