Metropolitan and Peterborough Regattas 2nd/3rd June 2018

Last weekend we sent thirty of our top athletes to Met Regatta whilst at the same time boating a cast of thousands at Peterborough Regatta. As is usual on this weekend we had trucks and trailers criss crossing the country getting all the boats into the right places and back again on the Sunday evening.

At Met we had some seat racing to do amongst the senior mens squad which culminated in a fine third place in the final of Champ coxless fours on Sunday, pushing an Oxford Brookes four very hard for second place whilst Leander, with a couple of GB Internationals on board, were ten seconds ahead. An excellent performance in a quality field.
The women eight raced well to win the C final in a little tried line up. The women double (Bridget Bridget Snaith / Nicole Cooke ) came closest to a win, foiled only by the slightest of brushes with a marker buoy in a frantic race for the line.

At Peterborough regatta we won the Victor Ludorum with far too many wins to mention here. However on Saturday we had a clean sweep of all the mens coxed fours events. On the same day the Band 1 eight – effectively the clubs third eight – just missed a win by 1 second but still dipped under the magic three minute marker. They won the same event on Sunday.

A brilliant weekend. Well done to all those who raced.
