Diversity Working Party
In 2020 a group of members of the Lea Rowing Club came together to create the Diversity Working Party.
‘The Lea Rowing Club recognises that Rowing is not an ethnically diverse sport; we are on a mission to change this. The I Belong project is going to make the club more representative of the ethnically diverse communities of Hackney, Haringey and Waltham Forest #IBelong’
Diversity Working Party – mission statement
Our two main threads of work are to develop an inclusive pathway into the club and create stronger links with our local ethnically and culturally diverse communities.
During 2021 we started running several courses as part of our I Belong initiative: Learn to Row, Indoor Rowing and Drop-in sessions. You can read more about these on our I Belong page.
